Sight for the Blind

I reached to the door and knocked. Taking a deep breath, I waited for an answer. I whispered a prayer under my breath, "Jesus, give me strength." It had been a long day, and I was at the end of my rope emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. I didn't want to be there.

A few seconds passed, and I was greeted with smiles and laughter from a couple of young ladies from Lewis Palmer High School. Instantly, I felt the energy and strength rush through me. They ushered me downstairs where their FCA group was meeting.

We sat in a circle on the floor. I opened my bible to Mark 3:13-15. As I began to teach, something so real and so powerful began to happen. We discussed how we have been WANTED by Jesus. We talked about how His desire for us is to first BE WITH HIM. We studied the truth that our greatest task is often receiving love from God- how knowing Him is less about what we can/should do for God, and more about receiving His love for us.

In being with Him and receiving God's love we will find ourselves loving. In receiving His grace, we will find ourselves gracious. In receiving His forgiveness, we will find ourselves very forgiving... Sight for the blind.

I watched as the Holy Spirit began to open the eyes of those in the room. I sat there, locked in with them in that moment. We received sight that night- sight of God's love for us- sight of His grace- sight of His desire for us and his desire to simply to BE with us.

As we wrapped up, I felt a nudge to ask if anyone would like to know Jesus and their Heavenly Father in this way. At once, 11 of the 15 young ladies in the room raised their hands. 11 of them... and to think I nearly gave up at the door. It's Him. Only Him.

May we always reach for Him in our moments of need. He is faithful.
